Eleanor Lambert

Sister Eleanor (Joann) Lambert, 94, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Mount Saint Francis, Clare House in Dubuque.

Born January 24, 1932, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Flora (Kieler) Lambert, Eleanor entered the Sisters of St. Francis on August 25, 1950, and made her final profession of vows on August 10, 1956. She earned her LPN license from Des Moines Area Community College in Carroll, Iowa, and devoted her life to ministry across numerous communities in Iowa, including Dyersville, New Hampton, Alton, St. Joseph, Bode, Carroll, and Dubuque, as well as in North Riverside, Illinois.

Sister Eleanor is survived by her sister, Mary (Dr. John) Brehm, her brother, Terrance Lambert, her nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, David (Shirley) Lambert, James Lambert, Gerald Lambert, and Daniel Lambert.

The Sisters of St. Francis extend their deep gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Dubuque and Mount Saint Francis Center for the compassionate care given to Sister Eleanor.
