Eleanor Estelle (Rhodes) Shupe, age 94, of Harrisburg, died on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Eleanor was born on Tuesday, May 26, 1931, in Hanover to the late Clarence Rhodes and Hazel (Costella) Rhodes. Eleanor was the widow of Lewis B. Shupe. In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor is preceded in death by her brother: Richard Rhodes and her granddaughter: Rachel Shupe.

Eleanor’s survivors include her four children: George Shupe and his wife Karen of Shippensburg, Scott Lewis Shupe of Denton, TX, Carroll “Barney” Shupe and his wife Vicki of Carrollton, TX, Sarah C. Shupe of Mechanicsburg; her seven grandchildren; her 13 great grandchildren; her two siblings: Peter Nace Rhodes and his wife Carol of Etters, Suzanne Smith of San Antonio, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Eleanor graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in McSherrystown as part of the class of 1950. She retired from K-Mart and Weis in Camp Hill where she served for many years. Eleanor enjoyed puzzles and brain teasers and was very fond of crosswords and word searches. She will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

All are welcome to join Eleanor’s family at her celebration of life open house and gathering of family and friends on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 2:30 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation); with Chaplain Kristen Barnes officiating. Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots. Cremation was private.
