Eleanor Demi ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley Funeral Home - Marlton on Mar. 9, 2026.Eleanor Joan Demi (née McCullough) passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026. Born in Kremis, Pennsylvania, she grew up on a farm in western Pennsylvania. This experience shaped her strong, independent spirit and provided her with many cherished stories she would share throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Ardell Demi, who passed away in 1977, and by her eldest son, Douglas James Demi, in 2012. Eleanor was a devoted and loving mother to Doug and her four other children: Sandra Kay Demi, Gail Diane Demi, Thomas Richard Demi, and Susan Jean Springfield. She was also a proud and devoted grandmother to Randy Scott Springfield, Jr., Jennifer Ardell Springfield, Tristan Silas Demi Norcross, and Kyle Clifton Demi Norcross. And she was a beloved great-grandmother to Jennifer's five lovely children: Chloe, Hayleigh, Matthew, Joseph, and Harper.Known to most as Joan (pronounced Joanne), she was a loving mother whose passing came just two days after the 49th anniversary of the sudden loss of her husband, Richard. She lived a life marked by quiet strength, independence, and deep loyalty to those she loved. Joan had many dear friends from her active years playing tennis, bowling, and golf, and she cherished those friendships throughout her life. She was a trusted confidant who never asked anything of others, living simply and finding her greatest joy when family gathered together. Joan had a deep love for the arts and culture. She delighted in everything from Stephen Sondheim to Barbra Streisand, from the stage adaptation of Nicholas Nickleby to foreign films. She enjoyed the works of Barbara Kingsolver, was an avid viewer of PBS, and loved challenging herself with thorny word puzzles.A dedicated Philadelphia Phillies fan through both good seasons and difficult ones, Joan treasured the day she met the legendary sportscaster Harry Kalas over lunch. She also fulfilled a dream by visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Over the years she had many travels with friends and family, both near and far. She was also a gifted storyteller and a beautiful singer.Despite her many interests and talents, Joan remained remarkably humble-a person whose warmth and sincerity made others feel at ease. She was the last of her generation in the family on both sides, and her presence will be deeply missed. We are all richer for having known her.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
