Elden Roger Moon

Cedar Rapids, IA

Elden Roger Moon, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 101. Born on October 19, 1924, in Hesper, Iowa, to Arthur and Inez (Rowe) Moon, he was raised with strong Midwest values and a deep respect for education. A veteran of the United States Navy during World War II, Elden married Arlene Hazel Clark on December 16, 1945, in Scranton, Iowa. Their marriage spanned more than eight decades, a true testament to enduring love and partnership.

Elden earned a doctorate in education and devoted his career to teaching and administration in the Amana and Cedar Rapids school districts. He was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and found great joy in bridge, woodworking, tennis, and golf. He also cherished quiet days fishing and hunting, though nothing meant more to him than time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene, their children Nicki (Jim) and Jeff (Lisa), as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elden was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Inez Moon, and his granddaughter Alexandra. In keeping with his wishes, a private family ceremony will celebrate his life. His spirit continues in the love and laughter of those he leaves behind.
