Elaine L. Sewell, née Wuebbles, 82, of Shiloh, Illinois, formerly of Alton, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at her residence in Shiloh. Born on May 20, 1943, in Carlyle, Illinois, she spent many years as a credit manager for Conagra Inc. and Peavey Barge Lines, where she formed lifelong friendships.
Elaine was a devoted mother and grandmother who gave everything for the happiness of her family. In her final two years, she embraced life fully at the Oasis Independent Living apartments, attending every trivia, karaoke, and bingo night and making many new friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sewell; her parents, George and Helen (née Kapp) Wuebbles; her brother, Gary Wuebbles; and her sisters, Mary Dieters and Doris Yates.
Elaine is survived by her daughters, Linda (Dean) Knight of Smithton, Kristy (David) Pruitt of Decatur, and Nikki (Jason) Brunaugh of Belleville; her grandchildren, Heather Atteberry, David (Justine) Atteberry, Christopher Siglar, Katlyn Pruitt, Ella Pruitt, Sydney Brunaugh, Olivia Pruitt, A.J. Brunaugh, and Izzy Brunaugh; her great-grandchildren, Stanley Atteberry, Kinley Smith, Jack Atteberry, and Melina Atteberry, along with a great-granddaughter due in April; her brothers, Donnie (Ann) Wuebbles, Danny (Cheryl) Wuebbles, Duane (Margie) Wuebbles, Eddie (Janine) Wuebbles, and Phillip Wuebbles; her sisters, Phyllis (Dennis) Huelsman and Denise (Rodney) Hubbard; her sister-in-law, Cookie Wuebbles; and many dear nieces and nephews.
