Elaine E. Karlen

Elaine E. Karlen, age 93, of Monroe, died on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Aster Assisted Living.

Born on July 7, 1932 in Northwood, North Dakota, Elaine was the daughter of Oscar and Alice (Walgrave) Kammerud. She graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1950 and married Rollie Karlen on February 23, 1952 at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe. She worked as a teller at First National Bank and later as a personnel officer and assistant cashier at the Commercial Bank in Monroe before retiring.

Elaine is survived by her daughters, Mary (Angelo) Karlen Lekas and Elizabeth (Robert) Stormont; four grandchildren, Alexander C. (Samira) Stormont, Ellen Stormont, James Stormont, and Alexandra (Justin) Lundsteen; and two great-grandchildren, Linden Bauer and Charlie Stormont. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Hughes, and her brother, Fritz Kammerud. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollie, on August 2, 2018, as well as her parents, sisters Darlene (Jim) Hogan and Mary Joyce (Henry) Blumer, brothers-in-law Mike Hughes and Ralph Karlen, and sister-in-law Virginia (Cal) Drafahl.
