Eileen George ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Sullivan Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Service - Hinsdale on Mar. 10, 2026.Eileen Mary George passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at Hinsdale Hospital. She was 78 years old.Born on December 19, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, Eileen was the beloved daughter of Robert and Marcella (Dorsey) Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Kathleen; and her cherished "Granny," Mary Dorsey.Eileen grew up in Chicago, a city she loved deeply and embraced with enthusiasm for all it had to offer. Some of her fondest childhood memories were made during summers at the Dorsey farm in Penfield, Illinois, alongside her cousins. There, she swam in the horse tank, made mud pies by the pond with her cousin Mike (while Kathleen preferred the indoors), ran from chickens, played croquet, rode in the bean wagon, and made regular trips to Putt's Gas Station for ice cream. When childhood frustrations arose, she would occasionally and dramatically threaten to walk all the way home to Chicago.Family meant everything to Eileen. She treasured Thanksgivings and holidays spent with the Dorsey and Philo Cain families-gatherings filled with turkey, beer, poker, and abundant laughter. She also enjoyed adventures with her cousins exploring downtown Chicago, Old Town, and Wrigley Field. Her generosity toward her family was deeply appreciated and will always be remembered.Eileen attended Catholic schools, including St. Leo's. After graduating from Chicago College of Commerce, she began her career as a court reporter in 1968, launching a distinguished professional journey that lasted more than five decades. Known for her exceptional talent, precision, and professionalism, she earned the admiration and respect of colleagues throughout the legal community. She was highly sought after by attorneys for depositions and hearings in complex cases, including traumatic brain injury litigation. She also reported at Rotary International's annual meetings-an experience she truly enjoyed, especially for the travel it offered. Over the course of her career, she built a reputation for excellence, gained the respect of her peers, and formed many enduring friendships.Eileen had a deep appreciation for life's simple and meaningful pleasures-dining at fine restaurants, traveling to faraway and sunny destinations, and savoring the beauty of new places. She adored animals of all kinds, especially dogs, and took great joy in their companionship. Eileen loved sharing good food and laughter with family and friends, listening to music, and embracing new experiences. Her curiosity, warmth, and enthusiasm for life made time spent with her especially memorable for those who knew and loved her.She married James George in 1990; they later divorced in 1996. Eileen is survived by many loving friends and relatives who will dearly miss her warmth, generosity, and spirited personality. She will be remembered for her lively presence, kind heart, and the joy she brought to those around her.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PAWS Chicago or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, two organizations Eileen cared deeply about.Arrangements and details regarding services or a gathering will be announced at a later time.Sullivan Funeral Home 630-323-0275 or www.sullivanfuneralhomehinsdale.comTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
