Born in Camden, New Jersey, to Henry and Violet Foster, Edythe was raised in New Jersey before moving to North Carolina later in life with her husband, James Vohringer.Edie treasured time with family and friends. She delighted in traveling-especially beach trips to Florida and Myrtle Beach; they were her sun and fun. At times Edie loved visiting the casino and testing her luck with the lottery, and could often be found dancing and enjoying life.She adored playing with her grandchildren and making memories with loved ones and cousins. She had such a passion for gardening that she made it a career, working for many years as a planter at Metrolina Greenhouse, where her love of growing and nurturing plants was evident to all who knew her. When she wasn't at work planting flowers she could be found at home tending to her own garden.Edythe is survived by her loving husband James Vohringer, her sons Karl Klischer (Bessie), Justin Gilbert and James Vohringer III (Amy), her sister Virginia Foster and her brother in law Tommy MonCrief, along with 8 grandchildren.Edythe is predeceased by her parents Henry and Violet Foster, her brothers Harry Foster, Joseph Foster, Elmer Foster and her sisters Florence Evans, and Josephine MonCrief.A graveside will be held on Tuesday March 24, 2026 at 1 PM at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, 19 Richwood Road, Elmer NJ 080318. A celebration of Edythe's life will follow after at The American Legion, 705 Newton Avenue, Oaklyn, NJ 08107.In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made in the memory of Edythe to the Levine Cancer Institute through the Atrium Health Foundation,7800 Providence Rd, Suite 208Charlotte, NC 28226There is also an option to donate online at https://atriumhealthfoundation.org/cancer/To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
