Edward "Bud" Zweber, Jr.
December 5, 1979— March 10, 2026
Aberdeen, SD
Edward "Bud" Zweber, Jr., 46, of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and formerly of Gettysburg, South Dakota, passed away peacefully at his home on March 10, 2026.
Born on December 5, 1979, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Bud grew up in Gettysburg, where he formed lifelong friendships and graduated from Gettysburg High School. In 1998, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served with courage and dedication in both Iraq and Afghanistan until his honorable discharge in 2008 due to injury. His years of service shaped his character, instilling in him a quiet strength, grit, and deep loyalty to those he loved.
On August 31, 2024, Bud married the love of his life, Hope Luce. Together they created a home filled with laughter, adventure, and quiet companionship. They shared a passion for fishing, camping, boating, and spontaneous road trips, finding their greatest happiness simply in each other’s company. Bud loved the outdoors—hunting, cruising back roads, and scouting deer—but nothing compared to the joy he found in his family.
He was at his best surrounded by loved ones. Bud adored his children and grandchildren with a fierce yet gentle devotion, always showing up for them no matter the need. With a big heart, sharp wit, and perfectly timed sarcasm, he could lighten even the hardest days. Selfless to his core, he gave freely of himself and made those around him feel safe, seen, and deeply cared for.
He is survived by his wife, Hope Zweber; his children, Brianna (Hunter) Roehrich, Caden Shatto, Mylie Shatto, and Corbin Zweber; his grandchildren, Adlie Roehrich and Kouvr Roehrich; his sister, Katie Zweber; and his brother, Mark Luce, along with many other cherished family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Cynthia Zweber, his grandparents, and cousins.
Bud will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal brother, and true friend. His legacy endures in the lives of those he loved so deeply and in the countless moments of joy, humor, and generosity he shared.
