Edward Louis Harris passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at his home in Tarboro.
Born in Edgecombe County on March 15, 1942, to the late Louis Edwin Harris and Ruby Pearl Harris, Edward spent many years working at Long Manufacturing, where he took genuine satisfaction in working with metal. In his free time, he found great joy in fishing and all kinds of watersports. He built an impressive collection of water vessels over the years and cherished quiet evenings watching old westerns on the GRIT channel and listening to gospel music. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family.
He is survived by his son, Bryant Harris of Tarboro, his sister, Ruby Mae Harris Respass of Greenville, and his brother, Bobby Lee Harris of Hobgood.
