Edward Foster ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Bonney Watson Funeral Home - SeaTac on Mar. 17, 2026.Edward James Foster (affectionately known as Foster) was born in Griffin, Georgia on September 11, 1943, to the late George Foster and Beatrice Cook-Foster.He graduated from Fairmont High School in Griffin and cherished return-ing home each year for his high school reunion. His love for family kept him closely connected to Georgia. He traveled to Atlanta annually to visit loved ones.After high school, Foster proudly served three years in the United States Navy. His first assignment took him to the Far East. He was stationed at the Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Ayase, Kanagawa, Japan.Afterward, he was assigned to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington.Following his military service, he made Seattle his home, where he built a life rooted in hard work, kind-ness, and community.Foster worked at The Boeing Company. Later, he transitioned into the trucking and shipping industry. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the respect he showed to everyone he encountered. No one was ever a stranger to him. He greeted each person with warmth, dignity, and genuine kindness.He loved the outdoors and found immense joy in fishing, especially during his frequent trips to Baker, Or-egon, and Eastern Washington. Being on the water brought him peace, and those who knew him under-stood how deeply he loved these adventures. He enjoyed his five-mile daily walks at Seward Park. Foster was also a huge Seahawk fan and a very active member of the SouthEast Seattle Senior Center.Foster was very family-oriented, loving, compassionate, and devoted to the people he cared about. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Beatrice Foster, his siblings Barbara Thomas, Dwight Fos-ter, and Brenda Foster.He is survived by his lifetime partner, Mary Downs; daughter Dollena Foster; stepdaughter Rene Broxson (Jeff); stepson Thomas Caldwell, grandchildren, Journi Foster, Karaya Jackson; and Makaio Caldwell, siblings Ida Barlow, twin Eddie Mae Foster, Leatrice Mulkey, Bernard Foster, Reverend George Foster Jr. (Juanita), a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.Edward's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew him.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
