Edward D. Marshall, Jr.

March 6, 1947 March 8, 2026

Burleson, TX

Edward D. Marshall Jr., 79, of Burleson, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, just two days after celebrating his birthday on March 6. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and the love he gave so freely to everyone around him.

Ed was born on March 6, 1947, in Texas City, Texas, to his parents, Ethel Ona Douglas and Edward D. Marshall Sr. He grew up there alongside his two sisters, Joyce and Carol, where he made memories that lasted a lifetime.

Ed proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. His service was a reflection of his strength, dedication, and courage. After his service, he built a career as a chemist, dedicating many years to his work. He had a love for science that shined so brightly and brought many people joy. He loved teaching children about science any opportunity he was given.

He was deeply devoted to his faith and was a member and deacon of Wedgwood Baptist Church. Even when he couldn’t make it to Sunday services anymore, he would wake up early and watch a livestream of the service in his recliner every Sunday morning.

Ed loved gardening and took pride in his beautiful rose bushes. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, and spending quality time with his family. Some of his happiest moments were spent playing checkers with his grandchildren while sharing laughter and stories.

He had a gift for making people smile. Ed was known for his playful sense of humor and quick wit. He was generous, friendly, and always eager to help those around him. To know him truly was to love him.

Ed was met in heaven by the love of his life, Martha Marshall; his parents, Ethel Ona Douglas and Edward D. Marshall Sr.; and his sister, Carol Jordan.

He leaves behind his loving daughter, Melissa Izquierdo, and her husband, Porfirio Izquierdo; his three grandchildren, Kristi Marshall, Jayden Henson, and Ava Izquierdo; and one great-grandchild, Delancy King. His grandchildren were his greatest joys, and he took immense pride in watching them grow up. He also leaves behind his sister, Joyce Steed, and her husband, Melvin Steed, along with multiple nieces and nephews.

Ed was more than a father, grandfather, and brother. He was a source of light, love, wisdom, and unwavering support. You could always count on him to put a smile on your face or give you a good laugh when you needed it most. The love, kindness, and support he showed will live on in the hearts of everyone lucky enough to have known him. Though he may be gone from this world, his legacy will never fade. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Roselawn Park, 2591 US Hwy. 84, Palestine, TX. 75801.
