May 13, 1939— March 13, 2026
Matthews, NC
Edward Charles Bressman, lovingly known as Dad, Papa, and Grandpa Ed, of Matthews, North Carolina, passed away on March 13, 2026, at the age of 86. He spent the last 26 years in the Charlotte area after many years living in Largo, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Sheri Bressman, his parents Max and Rae Bressman, his sister Judith Bressman, and his brother Herbert Bressman.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Ed remained deeply connected to his New York roots throughout his life. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the City College of New York. His lifelong passion for understanding how things worked led him to open his own television repair business in 1976, first known as Central TV and later as Bud’s and Central TV. He delighted in repairing and rebuilding printers, cameras, computers, and all manner of electronics.
Ed cherished time with his family, especially family cruises and moments spent with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing Bingo and chess, photography, drumming in a drum circle, and attending the theater. A longtime volunteer usher with Blumenthal Performing Arts, he particularly loved The Lion King and Charlotte Squawks, seeing them many times. He was a proud member of Temple Israel.
He is survived by his children, Dr. David Bressman of St. Augustine, Florida, and Jamie and Bruce Becker of Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as his grandchildren Sydney and Robert Spera, Josh Bressman, Rachel Bressman, Ariel and Aaron Wilson, and Max Becker.
