Edward A. Teats Jr.

Edward A. Teats, Jr., 86, of Columbia, passed away on March 4, 2026, at Hospice & Community Care. Born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, to the late Edward and Mildred Teats, Ed spent most of his life in the Lancaster area. He worked as a carpenter, manufacturing supervisor, and in various roles in the construction industry, and installed custom kitchens. He also designed and built three homes in which he lived.

Ed’s passions included carpentry and fine woodworking, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, and bird watching. He held a deep love of trains and enjoyed collecting unique pens and pencils. A devoted member of The Church of the Good Shepherd, he served in various positions and donated many handmade pieces that remain in use there. Above all, he cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Teats, who passed away last year, his sister Joan Trujillo, and his nephew Scott Montgomery. Ed is survived by his daughters, Shelley Baum, Karen Morrison, wife of George, and Kris Ricci, wife of John; stepsons Larry Recla, husband of Shari, and Mark Recla, both of Colorado; his brother William Teats of Delaware; three nieces; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
