Edna Juanita Jones

Edna Juanita Jones, 93, of Mason City, Illinois, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born on January 15, 1933, in Mason City to Edward Herman Hindahl and Margaret Sophia Mary Hindahl (Harries), Edna married John Lindberg Jones on April 5, 1953, at Christ Lutheran Church. The couple shared 66 years together until John’s passing.

Edna worked as a secretary for McNeil Law Office and later as a cafeteria worker for the Illini Central School District before retiring. She was an active member of the Mason City Historical Society, the recycling board, the Christ Lutheran Dorcas Society, and the Christ Lutheran Women’s Mission League. She found great joy in gardening, helping on the farm, and tending to her flowers. Those who knew her remember her open and compassionate heart, and her willingness to open her home to anyone in need.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Edward Jones and David Hindahl Jones (Lisa Francis); grandson Nathan Jones (Graciela); step-granddaughter Haley Lyon (Phil); great-grandchildren Rheuben Jones and Delilah Jones; her sister Melanie Gordon; and several nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, her sister Vera Hindahl, and her beloved cat Tootie.
