Edgar R. Morrell

September 16, 1938 March 10, 2026

Spartanburg, SC

Edgar R. Morrell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2026, at the age of 87 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Born on September 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Jessie James Morrell and Violet Sidney Johnson Morrell.

Edgar served in the United States Navy for six years, an experience that shaped his lifelong sense of discipline and respect. He later devoted more than 30 years to real estate as the owner of Boiling Springs Realty, after spending 13 years at Sears where he took genuine pleasure in serving customers. He was an avid golfer who rarely missed an opportunity to play, and he enjoyed exploring new software on his computer and designing floor plans for homes. His deep passion for real estate and his warm, outgoing personality allowed him to build strong connections with his clients.

A devoted member of North Spartanburg Freewill Baptist Church for more than 20 years, Edgar served faithfully as a Deacon, offering guidance and support to his church community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia L. Morrell, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his cherished children, Lynn Sutton (late husband Dana Sutton), Kay Gosnell (Joel), Ray Morrell (Beth), and Edwar Morrell, along with 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, John Morrell. Edgar was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
