Edgar Blake Layman

Edgar Blake Layman, age 69, of Eastman, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026. Born on December 5, 1956, in Bradenton, Florida, he graduated from Lake County High School in Leesburg in 1968. He then enlisted in the United States Army, serving with distinction for 24 years. A combat veteran of the Desert Storm Conflict with C Company, 702nd Transport Battalion, he rose to the rank of Sergeant and received numerous medals before his honorable discharge on August 1, 1999.

Following his military career, Edgar worked for Condor 3, Midstate Pool, Reed Construction, and Layman Transport alongside his father. He found great joy in fishing, hunting, wrestling, and collecting treasures at flea markets and estate sales.

He is survived by his dear companion, Lisa Stokes-Layman; his daughter, Michele Layman; his sister, Patricia Conley and her husband James; his brother, Charles Layman II; stepdaughters Brenda Handley and Tammie Brown; Miranda Vaughn and her husband Philip; Rebekka Lorens and her husband Josh; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Edgar was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Artie Layman; his daughter, Angel Gail Layman; and his sisters, Marie Staples and Maurine Bridges.
