Earlene Rachel "Sue" Toth

March 17, 1938 March 4, 2026

Peyton, CO

Earlene Rachel "Sue" Toth passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 4, 2026, in Peyton, Colorado. She was born on March 17, 1938, in Whiteville, North Carolina, to Dorotha Thompson. Sue married the love of her life, James "Jim" Charles Toth Sr., on February 25, 1964.

As a sailor's wife, Sue held down the household while Jim served as a submariner. A true southern woman, she expressed her love through food, keeping her kitchen lively with meals, baking, and passing down cherished recipes. She was an avid slot machine player who often beat the odds and brought home more than she spent, occasionally declaring she had "lost her shirt." Sue also maintained a strong candy habit that delighted her grandchildren, who knew they could always find jars of treats waiting in her living room. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with family and watching her favorite game shows, including Family Feud, The Wall, and Press Your Luck. She passed with the comfort of her faith in Jesus and the love of her family, unafraid of death and looking forward to being reunited with her beloved husband.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her mother Dorotha, her sister Pearl, and her brother Paul. She is survived by her son, James Toth Jr. and his wife Karen; her daughters, Robin Bennett and Stacy Shaver and her husband Lee; her sister Meryl Staller and her husband Marvin; her grandchildren James, Christopher, Patrick, Ryan, Kennedy, and James Dean; and her great-grandchildren Jeremy, Alexander, Alexia, and Celes. She also leaves behind a large extended family and many dear friends who will cherish her memory.
