Earl V. Kesner, 73, of Hinton passed away Sunday March 15, 2026, in Henrico Doctors – Forest Hospital following a long illness.

Born January 21, 1953, in Hinton he was the son of the late Elwood Ray and Effie Adkins Kesner.

Earl was a retired coalminer where he had worked from the age of 15. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to motorsports racing and spending time with family and friends.

Preceded in death by one son, Steven M. Kesner; one brother, Darnell Kesner; mother-in-law, Naomi Gill, brother-in-law and best friend, Boyd Gill, brother-in-law, Teddy Wills, three sisters-in-law, Helen Gill, Brenda Gill and Midge Trout.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Kathy Gill Kesner; one son, Michael E. Kesner and wife Donna; five grandchildren, Savanna Kay Kesner, Hunter Kesner, Riley, Chase and Kolbie; three great grandchildren, Sofia, Oaklynn and Mavrick; siblings, Selane Gill, Delwood Kesner and wife Nancy, Annette Thompson, Benwood Kesner and Veronica, Elwood “Woody” Kesner Jr. and wife Leisa, Ray Kesner, Christine Adkins and husband Tommy, William Kesner and wife Crystal, Delphine Stinson, Caroline “Sissy” Fox and husband Jeff and Marie Fox and special nieces and nephews whom he raised, Connie Lilly, Zach Gill, Samantha Bender and Donnie Zimmerman Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. Christopher Gill officiating. Burial will follow in the Gill Family Cemetery near Hinton. Visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors.

Michael Kesner, Hunter Kesner, Jonah Zimmerman, Donnie Zimmerman, Brian Lilly, Richard Trout, Zach Gill and Lonnie Morrison will serve as pallbearers.
