Born in Narrows, Virginia, on March 30, 1944, he was the son of the late Earl Woodrow and Margaret O. Smith Leftwich.David was a graduate of Forest Hill High School and dedicated 30 years of service as a conductor at CSX Transportation Corporation. He also worked for the Southern Soil Conservation District. A devoted member of the Forest Hill Methodist Church, David was an avid farmer and outdoorsman, raising beef cattle on the farm he cherished.He is survived by his loving wife, Alva Jean Walker Leftwich; his son, Earl Daniel Leftwich and wife Miku of Princeton; his daughter, Katherine Leftwich of Forest Hill; his brothers, Richard Leftwich and wife Gemma of Hinton, and Steve Leftwich and wife Kathy of Charleston, WV; and his granddaughter, Nina Leftwich. His faithful dog, Ellie Mae, also survives him.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, with Pastor Jim Wentz officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton.
