Bankes, Jr. (Junior), 84, of Shermansdale, Pennsylvania, formerly of Duncannon, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 5, 2026.Born July 20, 1941, in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, Junior was a quiet, gentle man known for his hard work, deep integrity, unwavering faith in God & the mischievous sparkle that never left his eye.Junior worked for many years as a mechanic for Capital Trailways before retiring. Whatever he did, he did with steadiness, honesty & pride. Junior was a devoted fisherman and a jack of all trades spending many hours working on his tractors or whatever car he had at the time. Even in his later years, Junior remained active, strong & deeply connected to the people & places he loved.Above all, Junior was a devoted husband to his beloved wife for 41 years, Sharon, who went to be with the Lord 20 years ago. He loved his family fiercely & without reservation but being "Pap" was one of his greatest joys. His daughters & grandchildren brought out his softest smile & proudest moments. Nothing meant more to him than watching them grow, cheering them on, & simply having them near.Junior is survived by his daughters: Tina Jimmo & Melissa Kreiger; His brother: Merrill Bankes; His sisters: Rhoda(Dolly) Comp & Joehanna (Sis) McNerney; His grandchildren: Sarah Boles, Kaitlin Melville, William Fisher, Jr, Tiffany Kreiger, Brittany Kreiger, Katy Kreiger, & Mattie Fox. As well as 5 great grandchildren & many nieces & nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents: Margaret (Forbes) Bankes & Earl Bankes Sr; And his sister: Anna Mae Hill; and 1 great grandchild, all of whom he is now reunited with in eternal peace.Junior will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the life lessons taught to his daughters & in the family he cherished.A celebration of life will be held in the banquet room at The Ranch House Restaurant, 3456 Susquehanna Trail, Duncannon, PA on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 12:30pm. **Lunch will be at the person's own expense**The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bankes family.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
