E. F. "Pete" Moore

E. F. "Pete" Moore

January 10, 1951 March 12, 2026

Glen Rose, TX

Pete Moore, born on January 10, 1951, in Lordsburg, New Mexico, passed peacefully at his home on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

The beloved son of Gene and Faye Moore, Pete was a proud graduate of Lordsburg High School, class of 1969. He went on to attend Western New Mexico State University, where he lettered in football and shot put, earning a degree in Business and a coaching certification in 1974 as a first-generation college graduate. His professional path reflected a spirit of service and adventure. He served as a sheriff’s deputy in Lordsburg under his father, worked on international rescue efforts for children in the Philippines while in Iran with Brown and Root, partnered in building car washes in Amarillo, excelled as a top salesman for Preferred Risk Insurance in Dallas, and finally realized his dream by owning and operating Glen Rose Auto Parts for 25 years on the town square. There he became known not only for his business but for the stories, jokes, and genuine connections he shared with everyone who walked through his door.

Pete married Nancy Miller on July 3, 1977, in Glen Rose, Texas. Their nearly 48-year marriage was filled with travel, adventure, and a shared commitment to raising their three children in a Christ-centered home. A devoted member of the Baptist church, he served in ministries at Coulter Road Baptist in Amarillo, Hampton Road Baptist in DeSoto, and First Baptist Church of Glen Rose. He also gave generously of his time as a member of the Glen Rose ISD school board.

Pete is survived by his wife Nancy; daughters Kellie Pollock and Katie Stewart; daughter-in-law Katy Moore Mitchell; 19 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Billy Miller, siblings Diana Lynn Moore, infant twins, Billy Wayne Moore, and Donna Ruth Thompson, and his son Jordan Moore, who remained his best friend.

He found his greatest joy in the role of “Papa,” pouring boundless love into his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid hunter and enthusiastic participant in sports such as golf and racquetball, Pete lived a life marked by faithful service, generous love, and quick wit. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his legacy of devotion to family and faith endures in all who knew and loved him.
