Duane "Cherry Bomb" Thomas Cherry

Duane "Cherry Bomb" Thomas Cherry

August 10, 1973 February 28, 2026

Seminole, OK

Duane “Cherry Bomb” Thomas Cherry, age 52, of Seminole, Oklahoma, passed away on February 28, 2026, at Mercy Ada hospital surrounded by his loving family and his Ghost Mound brothers and sisters.

Born on August 10, 1973, in Santa Clara, California, to Thomas and Bonnie Cherry, Duane moved to the Seminole area at the age of ten. He graduated from Varnum High School in 1992 and became known locally as the “Seminole Producer,” the man who always seemed to know what was happening across town within minutes. From a young age he was quick to help anyone in need, often giving the shirt off his back without complaint. He assisted his sister Lisa with countless moves when her son Tyler was small, and even in recent years continued to show up whenever family needed him.

Duane worked for the old Downtowner Phillips 66 on Crazy Corner, then at Expert Tire, before joining AGS, LLC in 2003 as a field service technician. He thrived in the role, traveling across Oklahoma to service casino gaming equipment and forming friendships wherever he went. In 2017 he attended the G2E Trade Show in Las Vegas. He also served with the Bowlegs Volunteer Fire Department beginning in 2013, working alongside his friends to serve the community. In 2014 he helped found the Ghost Mound club and proudly served as its vice president.

He is survived by his fiancé, Kristine Britt, and her son Karson Pennington; his sister, Lisa Marcel, and husband Henri of Seminole; nephews Tyler Marcel and Kaitlyn Bates of Shawnee, Henri-Robert Marcel III of Seminole; nieces Kal Marcel of Seminole, and Brandi and Kalone Blackwell of Earlsboro; great-nephews Tevin, Jarrin, and Kamrin Blackwell, Hudson Marcel, and River Marcel; along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, his Ghost Mound brothers and sisters, and members of the Bowlegs Volunteer Fire Department. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, uncles, and step-son Kanyan Pennington.
