Duane J. "Bucky" Smith

March 10, 1958 March 4, 2026

Superior, WI

Duane J. “Bucky” Smith, 67, of Superior, Wisconsin, passed away on March 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. Born on March 10, 1958, in Superior to Judy “Finn” and Philip “Hyper” Smith, Bucky built a life defined by quiet competence and steady presence.

A highly skilled carpenter, he earned the deep respect of friends, relatives, and customers for his exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and unwavering integrity. Whether solving a complex problem or creating something new, Bucky approached every task with patience, pride, and a creative touch that made things come together.

He possessed a quick wit and a habit of bestowing nicknames on family and friends, whether they welcomed them or not. Bucky found joy in watching Bob Ross and painting in the style that inspired him, and he was happiest relaxing in front of the television with the remote firmly in hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents Judy and Philip Smith, brothers Philip “OB” and Danny, and grandson Elias. Bucky is survived by his life partner of 36 years, Andrea “Getta” Gucinski; his children Duane, Nicki, and Jeffery Smith; stepchildren Paul (Karen) and Michelle Gucinski; siblings Wally (Louise), Paulette, Paul “Bubber” (Vicky), David (Eunice), Doreen “Babers” (Gary) Beasley, Dennis (Sonja), Coco (Barbara), Phylys (Randy) Sigler, and Charles (Julie) Smith; eleven grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
