Dr. William Robert Steele II

Dr. William Robert Steele II

April 16, 1963 March 8, 2026

High Point, NC

Dr. William Robert Steele II, 62, of High Point, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, surrounded by his faith and loved ones.

Born on April 16, 1963, in Wichita Falls, Texas, he was the son of the late Charles Robert Steele and the late Janice Marie Driskill. On August 24, 1985, in Wichita Falls, he married Jennifer Joy Hester Steele, and together they shared 40 years of marriage, ministry, and unwavering devotion to the Lord.

Dr. Steele lived a life marked by integrity, wisdom, loyalty, and a joyful sense of humor. He was known for his quick wit, his well-timed pranks, and the laughter he brought into every room. Beneath the humor lay a deep well of faith and character. He carried a humble confidence—never seeking attention, yet always steady, capable, and courageous. Risk-comfortable in the best way, he was willing to step into the unknown, follow God’s leading even when the path was uncertain, and embrace new challenges with boldness. An adventure seeker at heart, he approached life with curiosity, joy, and a readiness to say yes to whatever God placed before him.

He was a loyal friend, a steady encourager, and a man whose counsel was sought because it was always grounded in Scripture and grace. He had a unique calling to support and strengthen pastors, walking beside them with prayer, discernment, and compassion. Many considered him a pastor to pastors—an anchor of encouragement and a safe place to rest.

As a husband, he loved Jennifer with a devotion that reflected Christ’s love for the church. Their marriage was a testimony of partnership, laughter, adventure, and shared faith. To his children, he was a wise and gentle guide, teaching them integrity, hard work, laughter, courageous faith, and trust in God. Being “Poppy” to his fifteen grandchildren—Wyatt, Sterling, Briggs, Townsend, Annalise, Maverick, Ryker, Stella, Lydia, Annika, Tavish, Anders, Everett, Hayes, and Josie—was one of his greatest earthly joys. He delighted in each one, bringing laughter, stories, and a touch of mischief to every moment.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Steele; his son, Andrew Steele and wife Taylor of Raleigh; his daughters, Sarah Moody and husband Paul of Coronado, CA, Rebecca Bjorlie and husband Thomas of Morganton, and Hannah Bell and husband Benjamin of Greensboro; his fifteen grandchildren; his brother, Charles Alan Steele and wife Staci of Pecos, TX; and his sister, Julia Ann Clark and husband Terry of Tampa, FL.
