Dr. Teresa R. Johnson Ramey passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2026, in Roanoke, Virginia. Born on June 11, 1964, in Louisville, Kentucky, to James L. Johnson and the late Alma Jean Johnson, Teresa lived a life defined by her deep faith, academic dedication, and remarkable capacity for kindness and generosity.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications from Western Kentucky University, a Master of Science in Instructional Communications from Jacksonville State University, and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University. Over several decades in higher education, she served as a dean of students and held vice-presidencies in student affairs, community development, and diversity and inclusion. A trained mediator, she later established her own consulting firm focused on conflict management and leadership development.

Teresa found joy in music and singing, creating original recipes, and spending time with her beloved dogs, Jake and Madison. Her warmth, humor, and wisdom touched everyone around her. She served on the board of K-9 Companions, reflecting her lifelong love of dogs, and lived her Christian faith with quiet courage and thoughtful grace.

She is survived by her father, James L. Johnson; her siblings, J. Denise Johnson Marshall, Eric L. Johnson, and Darryl K. Johnson, along with their spouses, Jerome C. Marshall, Tracy Polite Johnson, and Anissa Johnson; her nieces, Jordan and Devyn Johnson; her nephew, Nicholas Johnson; and her loving partner, Richard Roberson. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, colleagues, and mentees who will carry her memory forward. Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell K. Ramey, her mother, Alma Jean Johnson, and her grandparents, Julia Liggins, Samuel Liggins, Lonnie Richardson, and Mathis Johnson.
