Raymond Trop ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home - Aspinwall on Mar. 16, 2026.Dr. Raymond C. TropRaymond, age 82, dedicated family man & beloved community oral surgeon, died on March 15, 2026, at home, surrounded by those who cherish him most.Throughout his life, and during his final moments, Raymond always said, "my greatest joy is my family". He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee", and his three sons, Brandon, Justin, and Evan Trop. As a father and husband, he demonstrated his love through commitment, provision of opportunities, and enduring presence. Family dinners were the essence of living, not an option. He and his wife nurtured their family with fervor, and he imbued his sons with an appreciation for education, an unwavering sense of morality, and an experiential understanding of the value of shared experiences in life. They also knew him for his love of late-night sandwiches, philosophical discussions, and an endless desire to learn. Beyond his immediate family, he also served as a father figure for many others who crossed his path, driven by a genuine desire to help those who might be in need.Raymond was born in Ford City, Pennsylvania, to Carl and Hedwig (Morda) Trop, the children of Polish immigrants who embodied the values of hard work, Catholic faith, and enjoyment of life's simplicities. He grew up alongside his siblings, Janice Lakatos and Carl Trop. Following high school graduation, at the behest of his father, he applied to Penn State and went on to complete a chemical engineering degree there. After working in the field for some years, he sought to advance his career and pursued a MBA, before ultimately finding his calling in oral maxillofacial surgery, training at the University of Pittsburgh. As an oral surgeon, Raymond combined his penchant for analytical thinking & technical mastery with steadfast dedication to caring for patients. He exuded calm & caring presence. Generosity was at the center of his practice, and he found ways to make care accessible even for those who struggled financially. He was a partner for 40 years at Pittsburgh Oral Surgery. During that time, he touched countless lives, those of not only his patients, but also his staff, whom he strived to uplift by offering support, mentorship, and wisdom. His spirit lives on through the impact he had.To know Raymond is to know what it means to be authentic. To know what it means to be humble. To know what it means to care. His legacy is one of kindness, and a story of dedication, determination, and depth of being.A private family visitation and service will be arranged by Weddell-Ajak Funeral Home in Aspinwall. In lieu of flowers, his family respectfully asks that memorial donations be made on Raymond's behalf to Hillman Cancer Center, where he and many other patients receive comprehensive care as they journey through life with cancer. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Dr. Raymond C.
