Patrick McAndrews ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Yurs Funeral Home of Geneva on Mar. 2, 2026.Dr. Patrick William McAndrews was born on July 20th, 1959 to his parents Jerome and Joan McAndrews. Patrick was a curious and studious man all his life, but the most defining attribute of him was his faith. His love for the Lord shaped his worldview and everything he did.As a young man he worked many odd jobs, from corn detasseling to being a caregiver for a woman in a coma. He went to North Scott High School and then completed his undergraduate study at the University of Iowa (where he became saved!). He then followed a long family legacy by graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in spring of 1989. He then moved to Wheaton, Illinois to join his dad and step mom in their practice where he eventually took over and worked for nearly three decades. He sold McAndrews Chiropractic Clinic in 2018, and continued his career at Advanced Health of Naperville until he retired at sixty-five in 2024. He still provided the "healing hands of chiropractic" to family and friends in need.Patrick was an affectionate and loving father. He always had open arms for a hug or a cuddle, and said "I love you" every day. Throughout his children's lives he led them in their athletic pursuits, acting as a coach and cheerleader. He joined them on prairie path runs, acted as their catcher and throwing partner in the driveway or at the park, and attended every practice he could. He spent countless hours and most weekends at meets and tournaments, rain or shine. Even forty degrees and raining (his personal least favorite weather). He often reflected that raising his children was one of God's greatest gifts to him.Patrick was so dedicated to his family and career that he had little time to dedicate to his hobbies until he retired, and he used his newfound freedom to spend more time on them. He was a member of the Aurora Sports Club, a regular at Delnor Health and Fitness Center, and looked forward to working on improving him and his wife Vicki's home through landscaping and construction projects. He loved worshiping at Chapel Street Church where he was a very active member, involved in the men's and marriage ministries. But above all, he was zealous about growing in his faith and sharing Christ's love with others. One of God's greatest gifts was given when he met the love of his life, Vicki, and married her on July 5, 2018. For the last decade of his life, he found joy in every minute of their daily life together: from little things like making her coffee just right every morning, to big things like leading them in their walk with Christ, praying regularly and keeping their focus on God's love. He showed love through acts of service, and cheerfully helped anyone in need, but especially those closest to him. He had a servant's heart and a divine gift of evangelism. Today he is with his Lord and Savior, worshiping in Heaven – which is more glorious than anything he could have ever experienced on earth. He is survived by his wife, Vicki, his children, Virginia McAndrews. Matthew (Wendy) McAndrews, Michael McAndrews, Barbara (Christian) Klein and Janna McAndrews, two stepchildren, Holly (Clayton) Lockwood and Sarah Straup, several grandchildren, four siblings, Andria (Dan) Stolhand, Stacey (Phil) Paisley, Laura Dues and Kathleen (Darren) McGee and a brother-in-law, Steve ShueyHe was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Jennifer Shuey and Amy McAndrewsMemorial Service will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 7th at Chapelstreet Church, Mill Creek Campus, 1S455 South Mill Creek Drive, Geneva.
