November 15, 1942— March 10, 2026
Kinta, OK
Doy Harold Green, 83, of Kinta, Oklahoma, passed away on March 10, 2026, in Stigler, Oklahoma. Born on November 15, 1942, to Alonzo Green and Ina Mae Ligon Green, he attended Quinton Public Schools. On July 16, 1961, he married the love of his life, Lois Mizell. Together they made their home in Kinta and raised two daughters, Dana Bailes and Donna Carpenter.
Doy spent more than thirty years working at the State of Oklahoma Commodity Warehouse before retiring. He was a man who loved simple, honest living close to the land. An avid outdoorsman, he was widely regarded as one of the finest fishermen in the area. In his younger years he tied and sold fishing hooks, taking great pride in his craft and generously teaching others the skill. He also cherished quail hunting with his beloved bird dogs and looked forward to squirrel season each year. In his younger days he was known around Carey’s pool hall as one of the best players in the county, often running the table while calling every shot.
Later in life his passion turned to gardening. He once tended six gardens at a time and sold his vegetables from a small stand at Green Acres. He trusted people deeply and would often give produce to those who could not pay, believing they needed it more than he needed the money. Doy was a loyal friend, a steady presence, and a devoted supporter of Kinta basketball. He took special joy in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. At home he enjoyed westerns, Star Trek—particularly his favorite character Spock—and episodes of The Rockford Files.
Above all, Doy was devoted to his family and to his beloved wife Lois, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and loyalty. He is survived by his daughter Dana Bailes and husband Jonathon of Stigler; son-in-law Bentley Carpenter of Kinta; grandchildren Josh Lowe of Tulsa, Rachel Fisk and husband Kevin of McAlester, Lensey Holden and husband Rodney of Kinta, Hailey Murray and husband Josh of Kinta, Jalen Carpenter and wife Ashley of Krebs, and Westen Carpenter; and great-grandchildren Hunter, Jace, Kameron, Kylie, Adrianne, Matthew, Adam, Andrew, Ariah, Kyler, and Bennet. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois, his daughter Donna Carpenter, granddaughter Kensey Lowe, brother Carl and wife Wilma Green, sister Rilda Pippins and husband JD, sons-in-law Rusty Lowe and Steve Coble, and special cousin Don Howell.
