Douglas W. Zeigler, 64, of Dudley, died peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, surrounded by his family.
Born in Caribou, Maine, to the late Melvin and Carolyn (Quist) Zeigler, Doug was raised in Stockholm, Maine. He attended Stockholm Elementary School and graduated from Caribou High School in 1979. As a young man he was active in the First Baptist Church in Stockholm, where he participated in the Boys’ Brigade, and he worked in the stockroom of the J.C. Penney store in Caribou. He later moved to Thompson, Connecticut, and then to Dudley, Massachusetts.
Doug spent more than two decades at Webster-Dudley Lincoln Mercury and later served as service manager at Place Motors in Webster. He was an avid fisherman who competed in many tournaments throughout his life and held a deep love for football. Above all, he cherished his family.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dale M. (Plante) Zeigler; his children, Robert Piltzecker of Dudley, Sean Piltzecker and his wife Colleen of Washington, Nicole Coiteux and her husband David of Charlton, and Andrea Zeigler of Worcester; his brothers, Scott Zeigler of Maine and Lance Zeigler and his wife Janelle of Maine; his sister, Debra Zeigler-Walsh and her husband John Walsh of Florida; five grandchildren, Julia, Alexia, Emma, Connor, and Wyatt; and many nieces, nephews, and relatives in Nebraska and Maine.
