Douglas Hawkins ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Barnes-Friederich & Pope Funeral Home - Midwest City on Mar. 10, 2026.Douglas MacArthur Hawkins was born on April 19, 1951, to Oliver Nathaniel and Bernice (Gustin) Hawkins in Anadarko, Oklahoma and departed this life on March 5, 2026. He was a proud graduate of Classen High School, class of 1969. Doug served his country in the U.S. Army from 8 Dec 1971 to 5 Apr 1973 serving in Karlsruhe, Germany. He served in the Army Reserves for 10 years and retired from Tinker Air Force Base 30 Apr 2012 as a Management Analyst after 29 years 1 month.Doug married Linda K. (Stapp) LaValley on April 8, 1996. They shared a once-in-a-lifetime love for each other. He worked in various occupations from the time he was 11 years old. He was an avid reader and an excellent artist. He loved rock and roll and blues music, history, museums, gardening, fishing, hunting quail and pheasant, traveling, driving back roads, trivia, bowling and above all else golf. He enjoyed many yearly golf trips to Lake Murray and was lucky to have two holes in one. He was an excellent woodworker. He was generous, kind and honest and had a keen sense of humor. He was a devoted care giver for family members and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and family.He was preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers, Larry Hawkins and Erroll Hawkins; sisters, Brenda Bogle and Nancy Hawkins.He is survived by his wife, Linda Hawkins; son, Eric Hawkins/Cecilia Stewart; daughter, Erin Hawkins; his grandchildren, Milton Johnson, Eric Hawkins, Jr/Elizabeth Seedorf, Brandon Hawkins, and Aleaha Hawkins/Jay Aguilar; his great-grandchildren, Linkin Hawkins and Wesson Hawkins; mother-in-law, Betty Stapp; brother-in-law, Stanley Stapp, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.Doug was a 9 year and 2 months liver cancer survivor. Special thanks to Dr. Thomas Showalter, III, Dr. Kiran Prabu and staff at Integris Cancer Institute, Dr. Stephen Lee, Dr. Aubrey Kavanaugh, Integris Baptist ICU and 7th floor doctors and staff, and Integris Hospice House.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s, or charity of your choice.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
