Douglas Allen Horein

Douglas Allen Horein, 67, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away on March 10, 2026 at his home after an extended illness.

Born on February 23, 1959 in South Bend, Indiana, Doug was the son of Terry L. and Kathryn “Kay” E. Horein, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Penn High School and built a career in construction, beginning with Terry Horein Builders and continuing in the field for many years. Known as a dedicated and hardworking man, he took great pride in the quality of his work and the relationships he formed with his colleagues.

Above all, Doug cherished time spent with his family. He loved the outdoors, particularly hunting, and found deep joy in sharing those experiences and creating lasting memories with those closest to him. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, caring nature, and distinctive sense of humor.

Doug is survived by his daughters, Katie Horein and Kaysie (Cameron) Sly; son, Cory Horein; granddaughters, Reggie Renae and Jordie Anne; sisters, Debby (Steve) Kildow and Donna (Brett) Schrock; brother, David (Celeste) Horein; and many extended family members. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
