Doug Hancock

August 6, 1930 March 6, 2026

Ogden, UT

Doug Hancock, 95, passed away on March 6, 2026, at his home surrounded by people who loved him. Born on August 6, 1930, in Ogden, Utah, to Winfield E. and Almira Rynearson Wright Hancock, he lived his entire life in Ogden. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1948 as a gifted cornetist and served in the U.S. Navy as a Boatswain’s Mate G Third Class during the Korean War.

In 1959 he married Joan Thompson, with whom he had a daughter, Tracy. After their divorce, he married LaRee Nielsen Weaver on January 7, 1964, and gained two bonus daughters, Marsha and Kandace. Following his Navy service, Doug worked as a milkman and later as a truck driver for IML and ABF, retiring in 1992. He carried with him the lesson that a driver is always on time, a principle that guided him throughout his life.

Doug enjoyed golf and skiing in his middle years. He was a lover of all animals, an avid puzzler and bowler, and a collector of a unique variety of items. He cherished traveling with his family to places such as Las Vegas, Hood River, and Northern California, and remained a devoted fan of the Utah Jazz and Colorado Rockies.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, LaRee Hancock; his granddaughter Kiarra Falcone (Carl); son-in-law Vincent Falcone (Lisa); bonus daughters Marsha Dearden and Kandace Weaver; sisters Deann Chapman (Jim) and Patricia Topps; two additional granddaughters, six great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his daughter Tracy, granddaughter Nikisha, his parents, and his sister Carol.
