Dorothy Rose Landrum Blankenship, 84, of Homerville passed away Thursday morning, March 12, 2026, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Homerville to the late Scott and Cletis Johnson Landrum and was a graduate of Clinch County High School. She lived in Tifton for twenty years and moved back to Homerville in 1984. Mrs. Blakenship was a member of the Homerville Freewill Baptist Church. She played basketball and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play football, basketball, and baseball. Mrs. Blakenship loved baking and giving everyone in her family their own cake for Christmas.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Branion Blankenship; three sisters, Alice Lewis, Martha Barnes, Wylene Medwin; three brothers, Frank Sheffield, William Sheffield, and Augustus Sheffield; son-in-law, Thomas Bennett.

Survivors include two daughters, Felicia Bennett and Nancy Blakenship Pittman all of Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law, Branion and Sherry Blankenship of Homerville; ten grandchildren, Josh Bennett (Ashley) of Tifton, Cody Blankenship (Charly) of Lawty, FL, Mandi Curtis (fiancé Joshua Wright) of Atlanta, Krysta Smith (fiancé Tyler Forester) of Jacksonville, FL, Jeremy Murray of Jacksonville, FL, Trey Feagle of Homerville, Trenton Pittman of Homerville, Bobby Pittman (Angela) of Naylor, Chelsea Pittman (James) of Homerville, Kelsea Petty (Derek) of DuPont; twelve great-grandchildren, Sawyer Bennett, Finn Bennett, Jaxon Blankenship, Brailee Pittman, Harper Bennett, Audrey Blankenship, Scarlett Feagle, Woods Pittman, Braison Pittman, Truett Pittman, Wyatt Petty, and Audree Petty; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning, March 17, 2026, at 11 am at Homerville Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Bennett officiating. Burial will follow Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 pm at Tift Memorial Gardens in Tifton, GA.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at Roundtree Funeral Home.
