Dorothy G. Peddicord, 98, of Westminster, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at Westminster Health Care Center. Born on October 1, 1927, in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Walsh) Shaffer.

A 1945 graduate of Westminster High School, Dorothy worked for more than 40 years at Smith and Reifsnider Lumber Company. She was a lifelong member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and belonged to the Baltimore Best Classic Chevy Club. Dorothy took great pleasure in tending her gardens, which featured vibrant flower beds, a vegetable garden, and several fruit trees. She also held a deep affection for animals, particularly dogs and cats.

On August 18, 1968, Dorothy married the love of her life, Ralph Eugene Peddicord. The couple shared 37 wonderful years together until his passing in 2005. They delighted in restoring antique cars, attending car shows, and working side by side in their gardens.

She is survived by her brother, Paul W. Shaffer and his wife, Kitty; three nephews, Bryan Shaffer, Bradley Shaffer and wife Katy, and Daniel “Chris” C. Riley; niece Paula Shaffer; six great-nephews and nieces, Brooke, Emma, Keith, Chelsea, Casey, and Nathan; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her husband Ralph, she was predeceased by her brother Arthur “Bud” B. Shaffer, her sister Kathryn L. Riley, her brother-in-law Daniel C. Riley Sr., and her nephew Thomas E. Riley.
