Dorothy Collins ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Carter-Trent Funeral Home - Church Hill on Mar. 9, 2026.Dorothy (Dottie) LuVerna Collins, born June 20, 1948, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer.Dottie married Harold Collins in June of 1970 and moved to Carter's Valley, Tennessee, where she worked as a custodian for the Hawkins County Health Department. She is well known for her love of Christ and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard Leonard Trent and Lorna Juanita Raynes.She is survived by her loving husband Harold Collins; brothers, Howard and Jerry Trent; sisters, Janice Smallwood and Jenny Catlett; children, Christopher Collins, Jesse Collins (Roxie); daughters, Rachell Collins Russell (Travis), Rebeccah Collins (Wayne); grandchildren, Landon Seal, Austin Rowland, Emily Seal, Sabrina Collins, Samantha Collins, Sarah Rowland, Trent Collins, Derrick Rowland, Parker Rowland, Dante Collins, Seth Rowland; step-grandchildren, Cameron Russell, Haley Rhoton; great-grandchildren, Bowie Hensley, Sawyer Hurd, Elias Rhoton, Magnolia Rhoton; several nieces and nephews and honorary grandchildren.Dottie loved all her church family at the First United Methodist Church in Surgoinsville, where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years.The family will host a celebration of life at the First United Methodist Church of Surgoinsville at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2026.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
