Dorothy King Adkins

Dorothy Pauline King Adkins, 88, of Evans, Georgia, passed peacefully at Doctor’s Hospital on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Born in Vidalia, Georgia on September 10, 1937, she spent her working years at the VA hospital in Augusta, later at Days in Atlanta, and most tenderly as a devoted nanny to several children. A woman who found joy in simple pleasures, Dorothy loved flowers, gospel music, watching birds in her backyard, and hunting for treasures at garage sales. She was a devout Christian and a longtime member of Marvin Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Bain Broome, her parents Isabelle Reese King and Augustus King, her sister Sybil Bennett, and her brother Bo King. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Angela Buster Bentley, her granddaughter Shelby Bentley, her grandsons Benjamin Broome and Brandon Broome, and her sisters Joyce Bassett and Robinette King.
