Dorothy Jean Ingle
July 4, 1931— March 7, 2026
Shiloh, TN
Dorothy Jean Ingle, age 94, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026. Born on Independence Day, July 4, 1931, in the Shiloh community near Hagy’s Bottom, she was the daughter of the late Ethyl and Oder Tedford. A woman of strong faith and a dedicated worker, Dorothy spent many years at the Brown Shoe Company until its closure and later worked at Kolpack until her retirement. After retiring, she found her greatest joy in helping to raise her grandchildren, a testament to her lifelong devotion to her family.
A member of Meeks Grove Baptist Church, Dorothy’s hands were rarely still. She was an avid gardener and spent countless hours quilting and crocheting beautiful pieces for those she loved. In her downtime, she enjoyed watching the Memphis Grizzlies on TV. Her true passion, however, was her family. She loved having everyone over to cook for them, and though she was known to modestly say, "all I have is this rough stuff," she always provided a delicious meal and a warm, welcoming home for her family
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John Ingle; her sisters, Wilma Barber, Shirley Rickman, and Alice Tedford; her brothers, Paul-Hayes, Leonard, Joe, Raymond, and Lodie Tedford; her sons-in-law, Donnie Stahl and Alfredo Cruz; and her granddaughter, Nicki Johnson.
She leaves behind a rich legacy and is survived by her two daughters, Jennie Stahl of Selmer and Linda Surratt and husband Gary of Adamsville; and her sister, Rebecca Roten of Selmer. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kerri Hughes and husband Keith of Selmer, Brandon Surratt and wife Kelley of Adamsville, Clay Surratt and wife Haley of Savannah, and Clint Surratt and wife Carrie of Texarkana, TX; as well as 13 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
