Dorothy Jane Lusk

Dorothy Jane Lusk, age 88, of Young Harris, Georgia, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born on August 9, 1937, to the late Homer and Essie (Kuykendoll) Hood in Young Harris, Dorothy was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church and a faithful online listener of Old Union Baptist Church. She was also a devoted member of the Eastern Star for many years. Dorothy found great joy in nature, often spending quiet afternoons on the porch watching the wildlife around her. Known for her humor and mischievous spirit, she loved to tease and cut up with family and friends, leaving behind countless memories of laughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louie Lusk; her son, Ricky Shook; her grandson, Jerrod Shook; and her brothers, Jerry Hood and Johnny Hood. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Myra (Charles) Tallent and Becky (John) Mullins; her brother, Buddy Hood; her sister, Linda King; her grandchildren, Josh Shook, Brandon Tallent, Christy Tallent, Stephanie Spiva, Ryan Tallent, Maggie Lusk, Kyra Tallent, James Mullins, Jake Mullins, Alex Mullins, and Zach Mullins; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
