Dorothy I. Lathan

Dorothy Ilene Lathan passed away on March 9, 2026, at the age of 75. A devoted mother, she lived a life marked by strength, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to her family. Above all, she cherished her sons, Demetrius and Greg, and took immense pride in the men they grew to be.

Those who knew Dorothy will remember her as kind, tough, and quick with humor. She worked hard throughout her life and faced challenges with quiet determination and independence, rarely asking for help even when it was deserved. She found joy in life’s simpler pleasures, particularly playing bingo and cards, where laughter and friendly competition often filled her days.

As a mother, she raised Demetrius and Greg with clear expectations, teaching them discipline, accountability, and perseverance from an early age. Through her own example, especially during difficult times, she instilled in them the drive to pursue opportunities and accomplishments. The inner strength they carry forward is a direct reflection of the resilience she modeled throughout her life.

She is survived by her sons, Demetrius Goodwin and Greg Lathan, along with a host of other family members. Her memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew her, honored with gratitude, respect, and abiding love.
