Dorothy "Dee" Glowasky

May 26, 1932 March 14, 2026

Plantsville, CT

Dorothy “Dee” Glowasky, 93, of Plantsville and Bristol, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026 at Ingraham Manor in Bristol. Born on May 26, 1932 in Wolcott to the late Andrew and Susan (Shia) Glowasky, she was a quiet and gentle soul who viewed life through rose-colored glasses. No matter the circumstances, Dee could be counted on to say with a smile, “It’s all good.”

Athletic in her youth, she later became known as the family’s fashion expert. Her career began as a buyer for the Women’s and Bridal departments at Raphael’s Department Store in New Britain before she moved into the fashion industry in New York City. Dee had a lifelong love of travel, both across the United States and abroad, but her most cherished trips were the “ladies only” vacations she shared with family. Family remained at the center of her life; she rarely missed a gathering, cheered loudly at her nieces’ and nephews’ sporting events, and treated them with the love and care of a mother.

Later in life, when asked if she could manage a task, Dee would reply with characteristic spirit, “Of course I can… I grew up on the farm, don’t forget!” Her childhood home always held a special place in her heart. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Glowasky of Marion, and several nieces and nephews who were dear to her. She was predeceased by her brothers George, John, Richard, and Paul Glowasky, and her sisters Ethel Fortier, Jane Glowasky, Anne Kalinowski, and Ruth Kuzara.
