Dorothy Dreon
September 11, 1931— March 7, 2026
Dearborn Heights, MI
Dorothy Dreon (Stiglich), age 94, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, passed away on March 7, 2026. She was born on September 11, 1931, in Calumet, Michigan, to Thomas and Rose Stiglich.
With a brave and adventurous spirit, Dorothy left her small hometown in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in her early twenties and moved to Detroit. There she worked in the bookkeeping department at Ex-Cell-O Corporation. After meeting and marrying the love of her life, Leonard Dreon, she devoted herself to raising their five children. When Leonard started his own commercial cooking equipment repair business, Dorothy applied her bookkeeping skills once again, helping manage the company for many decades. She and Leonard shared nearly 69 years of marriage, centered on family, hard work, and deep devotion to one another, until his passing in July 2025.
A creative and talented woman, Dorothy was entirely self-taught in many crafts. She mastered calligraphy, producing elegant handwriting, and created beautiful oil paintings, often of lighthouses, ships, and peaceful landscapes. She lovingly sewed outfits for her children and spent countless hours knitting, crocheting, and quilting sweaters, afghans, bedspreads, and rugs that brought warmth and comfort to those she loved. She found joy in simple pleasures—reading mystery novels by James Patterson, listening to the music of Don Ho, Engelbert Humperdinck, and the Three Tenors, taking Sunday drives, enjoying bus trips to casinos, and savoring popcorn and ice cream. A gifted gardener, she filled her home with thriving plants, delighted in feeding squirrels and birds, and cherished her cats as true members of the family.
Above all, Dorothy will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She dedicated her life to caring for her family, regularly checking in on loved ones, offering encouragement, and making sure everyone felt valued and proud. Her annual birthday calls, sung with heartfelt warmth, became a cherished tradition that reflected her kindness and joy in celebrating others.
She is survived by her children: David (Deanna), Duane (Marianne), Dan (Tara), Donna, and Delora (Ron) Tracy; her grandchildren: Brittany, Monica, Nicole, Amber, Dean, Corey, Jesse, Cody, Addison, and Joshua; and her great-grandchildren: Tylerr, Aryana, and Kyler. She is also survived by her nieces and nephew, Jean Linja, Dianne Trembley, and Charles Pohjola, along with many friends who became like family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard; her parents, Thomas and Rose Stiglich; and her siblings, Rose, Nick, Mary, Rudolph, and Thomas.
