Dorothy Byrd Brewer

Dorothy Byrd Brewer, known to all as Dot, was born in Norfolk, Virginia on July 30, 1925 and passed away on March 9, 2026.

She brought a vibrant spirit and love of life to everyone around her. Dot enjoyed dancing, playing golf, and was always dressed to impress, a true fashionista. She loved playing cards with friends and often ended her day relaxing with a glass of Chardonnay.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Edgar Mann and Dorothy Elenor Echols; her first husband, Robert Melvin Rice; her second husband, Luther Milton Brewer, Jr.; and her stepdaughter, Becky.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debbie Wilkerson and her husband Bruce; her son, Ron Rice and his wife Fran; her stepdaughter, Leslie Polen and her husband Jeff; as well as 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Dot will be remembered for her vibrant personality, sense of style, and the love she shared with family and friends. The family is deeply grateful to the caring staff at First Colonial Inn, who became her second family and looked after her with compassion until the end.
