She was later employed by the Girl Scouts and then by PFPC Bank, from which she retired at the age of seventy. A dedicated volunteer, Dorothy served as a Girl Scout troop leader and later as Area 28 coordinator.

She remained politically active throughout her life, serving as a committee person and as treasurer of the Women’s Democratic Club. In July 1988, Dorothy married John Javorsky. Together they were active members of the Elks Auxiliary. A lifelong Methodist, she attended Newark Methodist Church in her youth, Asbury Methodist Church, and was a longtime member of Peniel United Methodist Church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband John Javorsky and her sister Gracie McElwee. She is survived by her daughters, Coleen Walls (Scotty Baker) and Diana White; step-sons, John and William Javorsky; grandchildren, Brook White (Stephanie), James Walls (Lauren Stevenson), Amanda Zeauskas (Dave), and Jennie Walls; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Karen Fushion (Larry); many nieces and nephews; and her beloved grand-cat Cleo and grand-dog Gunner.
