Dorothy A. (Babcock) Houghtaling

Dorothy A. (Babcock) Houghtaling, 94, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Houghtaling.

Born in Providence, Dorothy was the daughter of George F. Babcock and Marie (Knowles) Babcock of Warwick. She worked in various positions in the Warwick area, from jewelry manufacturing to daycare. She found quiet joy in reading, playing checkers, and sharing time with family and friends.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Robert W. Houghtaling; her son, Robert L. Houghtaling; and her grandson, Dwight Arts Furey. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine M. (Houghtaling) Cate, wife of the late Peter Cate; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Elizabeth (Slaiger) Avery; and her brother, Frederick Slaiger. The family remains deeply grateful for the steadfast love, support, and friendship shown to Dorothy for more than 50 years by close family friend Lou-Ann LaPorte.
