Dorothea Ann West, 93, of Belton, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on March 10, 2026. Born on April 27, 1932, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Joseph Henry and Laura Agnes (Girard) Pieper. A 1951 graduate of Weyerhaeuser High School, Dorothea moved to Kansas City, Missouri, following her sister. She married Donald Eugene West on July 29, 1953, and they shared 49 years of marriage until his death on June 2, 2002.

A devoted and loving mother, Dorothea placed her children at the center of her life. She showed her care through the time she invested in them and the family traditions she created and maintained. A longtime member of St. Sabina’s Catholic Church in Belton, she found joy in traveling, fishing, and gathering with her family. Many Saturday evenings were spent in the second row at the Big Creek Country Showplace in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Patricia Snell and Barbara Ludvik; her daughter Linda Jean McNeil; and her great-grandchild Judah Metcalf.

Dorothea is survived by her five children, Susanne Lemberger, Karen West, Warren West (Sherri Schulte), Kelly West (Mary West), and Nancy Burford (Scott Burford); 13 grandchildren, Michael Joseph Blom, Jeffrey McNeil (Kendall), Matthew Lemberger-Truelove (Tamiko), Jessica Lanter (Todd), Joseph Lemberger, Scott Metcalf, Wayne West (Brandy), Jennifer Byers, Katie Harlan (Preston), Claire McCullagh (Luke), David West (Cassie), Mary Burford, and Christopher Burford; and 19 great-grandchildren.
