Doris Aycock ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Delisle Funeral Home - Portageville on Mar. 16, 2026.DORIS' OBITUARYDoris Shafer Aycock, 85, of Parma, Missouri, passed away on March 15, 2026, surrounded by her family.Doris was born on March 3, 1941, to the late Dorthy and Will Shafer. She grew up in Tallapoosa, Missouri, and attended Gideon High School. After high school, Doris attended Southeast Missouri State University and later studied cosmetology before beginning work at Brown Shoe Company in Parma. She eventually dedicated herself fully to her family as a homemaker.Doris married Bobby Howell Aycock on December 6, 1963, in Tallapoosa, Missouri. Together they raised three sons: Bobby Aycock, Jr. (Julie) of New Madrid, Missouri; Barry Aycock (Michelle) of Parma, Missouri; and Brad Aycock (Ann) of Columbus, Ohio. Doris was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Aubrey, Austin, Joel, Jonathan, Daniel, and Ryan.Doris is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Howell Aycock (2021), and her parents, Dorthy and Will Shafer. She also leaves behind many dear friends from across the Missouri Bootheel.Doris loved her family deeply and especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren. She rarely missed the opportunity to attend her sons' ballgames at Risco High School and later enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events.Doris looked forward to the Gideon Homecoming each year so she could spend time with her Class of 1959 friends. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, and working in her yard. She also loved music, especially listening to Lionel Richie. In recent years, she loved watching The Ohio State Marching Band's halftime shows.Those who knew Doris knew her as a tough, loyal, caring, sacrificial, and strong woman who was deeply devoted to her family.Her greatest joy in life was her family, and the love she gave them will continue through the generations she helped shape.A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday for the family.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Doris Aycock to the Gideon Alumni Association, C/O Gideon High School, PO Box 227, Gideon, MO 63848, or Parma Down Home Days, C/O Phyllis Biggs, PO Box 511, Parma, MO 63870.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
