Doris Owen Carter

Doris Owen Carter, previously of Asheboro, passed away on March 6, 2026, at Trinity Village in Hickory at the age of 93. Born in Seagrove on June 27, 1932, she spent most of her life in Asheboro before moving to Hickory in 2021 to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Owen, her father, Charlie Owen, her sister, Charlene Kearns, her brother, Larry Owen, and her husband of 42 years, Thomas Carter.

She is survived by her sons, Mike Carter of Valdese and Jimmy Carter of Smithfield, Virginia, and by four grandchildren, William Carter of Macon, Georgia, Sabrina Carter of Charlottesville, Virginia, Martha Carter of Denver, Colorado, and Elizabeth Carter Adams of Morganton. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life. A longtime member of Central Falls United Methodist Church, Doris attended faithfully for more than 40 years. She found great joy in spending time with family and friends, volunteering in her church community, and cooking for those she loved.

Doris was known for her kind and gentle spirit. She never harbored ill will toward anyone and carried a playful, lighthearted demeanor that brought laughter and warmth to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving her.
