Doris Zahorsky ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Buono Funeral Service, Inc. on Mar. 16, 2026.Doris Marilyn Zahorsky, 88, of Saugerties, passed away peacefully in her home on March 11th . Born in Hudson, Columbia County, New York, on November 5th , 1937, to Gladys (Hotaling) and Earl Hofeditz, she moved to the Kingston area after graduating from high school.A fiercely independent woman, she worked outside the home all heradult life. Her employment roles were primarily in payroll and accounting - using the now lost art of keypunching - at a number of well-known Hudson Valley businesses, such as Barclay Knitwear Corporation, International Business Machines (IBM), Rotron, and Hucktrol. She was very proud that Hucktrol had produced riveting equipment used by NASA to build the space shuttles. Later in life she returned to school and earned her associate's degree with Honors from Ulster County Community College. She then worked in several locally owned insurance agencies. In her private life, she enjoyed reading, travelling, horses, her pug-nosed dogs, and the serenity of her home at the "old stone house" in Mt. Marion. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John L. Williamson, Sr., and her second husband, James T. Zahorsky. She is survived by a son from her first marriage, John Williamson, Jr. ("Jack") of Saugerties; a daughter from her second marriage, Joanne Zahorsky-Reeves, of Woodland Hills, California; two grandchildren (Sierra Williamson, Saugerties, and Emily Zahorsky-Reeves, Woodland Hills) and one great-grandson (Jace Reyes, Saugerties). At her request, no memorial service will be held.
