Akron, OH

Doris Louise Ervin, age 61, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on March 3, 2026.

Doris was born on August 1, 1964, in Mansfield, Ohio, to John and Emily McDowell. She attended West 5th Elementary School and John Simpson Middle School before graduating from Malabar High School in 1982. She later continued her education at the University of Akron, where she majored in Art and minored in Drafting Design.

During her young adulthood, Doris met Jeffrey Ervin. After a beautiful courtship, the two were married in 1992 and built a loving home together. Their union was blessed with three beautiful children: Kearra Ervin, Courtney Ervin, and Jaleel Ervin. Doris was also a proud grandmother to Sherriae Williams and Aiyana Williams.

Doris worked part time for Cleveland Corporate Cleaning, but her greatest and most meaningful role was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a home filled with love. She had a deep love for art and history and enjoyed studying the Bible and scripture. Doris also enjoyed watching sports, listening to music, and cooking a variety of recipes for her family. She had a warm and caring spirit, and everyone who met her had kind words to say about her. Doris treated her children's friends as if they were her own and touched many lives with her kindness.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Jeffrey Ervin; her father: John McDowell; her brother: Alvin McDowell and her mother-in-law: Mary Ervin.

Doris leaves to cherish her memory, her loving Children: Kearra Ervin, Courtney Ervin, and Jaleel Ervin; her Grandchildren: Sherriae Williams and Aiyana Williams; her Mother: Emily McDowell; her Brother: Melvin McDowell; her Sister: Teresa McDowell; her Nephews: Justin McDowell and Brandon McDowell; her Sister-in-Law: Karen Ervin; her Niece: Kayla Ervin along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a host of Dear Friends.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
